In the platform game Pizza Tower, Peppino Spaghetti must make his way through each floor of a tower under the authority of the player. This was to positive reception from critics, who praised its gameplay, aesthetics, music, humor, and similarities to the Wario Land series. Pizza Tower came out on January 26, 2023. The game’s elements and mechanics followed the Wario Land, Jazz Jackrabbit, Earthworm Jim, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Metroid video game series. Pizza Tower’s design takes heavy inspiration from entertainment during the 1990s, especially the fourth generation of video game consoles. And there are no standard game difficulty levels instead, the difficulty of most levels depends on the player’s performance. Unlike the majority of other platform games, the player has no health or lives during normal gameplay. The player starts an escape sequence at the end of each level, which forces them to race back to the beginning of the level. A variety of moves and attacks are useful to accomplish these goals. The gameplay focuses on raising score, keeping combos going, collecting items, and moving quickly. In order to save his pizzeria, Peppino Spaghetti, a pizza chef, must navigate the game’s namesake tower. That was available for Windows and the Steam Deck only through the Steam store. Tour De Pizza independently developed it. Attractive cartoony graphics and a great sense of humor make Jazz Jackrabbit arguably the most charming platform superhero. These 3D levels make you race headlong through a racetrack within a given time limit to amass bonus points. While the game's vast levels, secret areas, and inventive power-ups already add up to an addictive game, to me the best part about Jazz are the bonus levels which are all presented in full 3D, in contrast to the 2D sidescrolling view. As Jazz the cool rabbit hero, you will travel from planet to planet to reach a villainous alien turtle who is bent on world destruction.
Similar in style to Earthworm Jim but released years ahead of that classic, Jazz Jackrabbit features a lovable cartoon protagonist, 4-button joystick support, well-designed levels, excellent graphics, and funny animated sequences. One of the best platformers to grace your PC screen, Jazz Jackrabbit was a very successful platformer by shareware standards, released by Epic Megagames in 1993 and spawned a number of well-received sequels.
